Raising money for Cancer Research
For the last twelve years, some close friends and I have been running a telethon-style video game event to raise money for charity. This year we are raising funds for the American Association for Cancer Research. The cause is near and dear to my heart - my mother passed from laryngeal cancer in 2005, and my uncle from pancreatic cancer in 2021. My father is a survivor of prostate cancer, and my aunt a survivor of breast cancer. This charity, in particular, focuses on getting funds into the hands of cancer researchers, connecting patients to clinical trials, and helping to support patients and their families as they deal with the difficult realities of a cancer diagnosis. I am lucky to be acquainted with a researcher whose work has directly benefited from this charity, and it definitely makes an enormous difference.
