Brooklyn Aikikai is a 501(c)3 non-profit educational institution whose philosophy is based on fostering the harmony of the entire individual (mind, body, and emotions). This is practiced chiefly through the disciplines of Aikido, Zen, Misogi and Iaido . All these traditional Japanese arts are a “Do” (or “Tao” in Chinese), a Way, through which one strives to reveal the true self. By bringing this true self forward, one is transformed, and so also is the world. We seek to educate the public about these traditional Japanese arts, as well as other Japanese cultural activities that would promote our mission. We provide a sanctuary in New York City where individuals may develop themselves through training in the above arts. Brooklyn Aikikai also offers training and information to benefit men, women and children (ages six and up) from all walks of life, and seeks partnerships with schools, and other nonprofits and community organizations.
